Ilario & Dino Michelini

Under the guidance of Emo Michelini, from our initial plantings in 1982 and further plantings in 1991, the first wines were released under the Michelini label in 1997. Today Michelini Wines owns and operates a mature 40 Hectare vineyard in the BucklandValley, producing some 600 tonnes of grapes annually. The winery has gone from strength to strength, and is now owned and operated by Emo's sons, brothers Ilario and Dino Michelini.

Ilario helped his father, Emo establish the vineyard and although it was a dream born in his father, Ilario was determined to see that dream come to fruition.

It was also his father's vision to one day have their own winery complex and cellar door, and again Ilario helped fulfill that dream. Ilario worked alongside contractors to build the Michelini winery and cellar door. Ilario's passion is the winery and vineyard, and maintaining all aspects of the complex to make sure they are operating efficiently.

Involved more in the vineyard side of the operation, Dino comments "we're a traditional Italian winery, and are very proud of our heritage. We are committed to producing wines of quality, with unique Italian varietals, including Marzemino and Teroldego. My Dad, Emo, was passionate about both of these grape varieties and felt that these would set us apart."

With the continued development of the vineyards, many other members of the family work alongside Ilario and Dino, helping to contribute to the smooth running of the winery, particularly when it comes time for pruning, harvesting and bottling. Dino's wife Marlinda, and their daughter Jade are often assisting at Cellar Door on weekends and son Kane can be found in the vineyard, when not attending to university studies. Ilario and Dino's sister Loretta, is a Melbourne based sales representative for Michelini Wines thus ensuring the continuation of a family owned and operated business, that has evolved into an exciting business enterprise.
