1924

Emo Michelini is born in Rovereto, Italy.

1950

Emo marries the love of his life Olga

1949

Post WW2 Emo and his family board the “Surriento”, a ship from Genoa, Italy destined for a better life in Sydney, Australia.

1970

After two years in Sydney making small goods, Emo and his family moved to Myrtleford, Victoria to begin farming tobacco

1982

Emo is astounded at the similarities this Alpine Region has to his hometown area of Trentino in The Italian Alps. Emo realises the area has the perfect climate to grow cool climate italian varietal grapes and so Emo both determined, and excited plants his first vines.

1983

Emo pictured after the Ash Wednesday Bushfires came ever so close to to destroying the new vineyard

1991

A further expansion of the vineyard sees it double in size

1996

Construction begins on the Michelini Winery and processing plant.

1997

Winery build is completed and construction of Cellar Door begins

1997

The very first vintage of Michelini Wines is commercially produced.

1998

Grand opening of Michelini Wines Cellar Door. Emo’s dream has finally come true.

2000

Alpine Valleys Wine Region is officially recognised as a Geographical Indiscation (GI) wine region of Australia.

2003

1st vintage of our famous Devils Creek Merlot is produced

2006

Emo Michelini sadly passes away aged 81 and sons Dino and Ilario take over as Directors of Michelini Wines.

2019

Michelini Viticulture is launched as a contracting service to fill a growing need for state of the art harvesting and pruning technology in our growing region.

2020

Kane Michelini rejoins the family business after nearly 10 in Melbourne developing his skills in other industries
