Viticulture

The best wines, are made here in the vineyard

– DINO MICHELINI

The Michelini Family have been growing grapes for generations. It is thing long history and passion for viticulture which has help the Michelini name stand above the rest in terms of fruit quality. Before focusing on our own label, a large percentage of our vineyard was contracted to the likes of Olando Wyndym, Casella, Domaine Chandon and Grant Burge for their premium labels.

Located in the Alpine Valley in North East Victoria our vineyard is a cool climate vineyard with high rainfall. This region is perfect for whites, sparkling and italian reds. However the climate creates some unique challenges and requires some closer attention compared to other regions. Despite that the rewards at the end of the season are incredible; and after every vintage the pain is all worth it.

Buckland Valley Vineyard

Planted in 1983 and a further expansion in 1990. At the time this vineyard was the largest Merlot vineyard in Australia. A high altitude vineyard perfect for cool climate wines. In 2018 the vineyard underwent a redevelopment to expand our Italian variety offering.

Location: Situated in the Buckland Valley at the foothills of Mount Buffalo in the Alpine Valley in North East Victoria. An elongated growing season due to the cool alpine breezes provides warm days and cool nights; perfect for crisp whites and sparkling wine.
